Everything in Brad and Kimberly Paisley’s new grocery store is free
From adopting children from third-world countries to starting charities, celebrities love to give back. Unfortunately, their ways of giving back aren’t always what the world needs. Brad Paisley and his wife are about to change that. They are opening a grocery store where everything is free. How on Earth are they going to make that work?
The Store is what Brad and Kimberly are calling their pet project. According to representatives, it “is a grocery store with dignity for people who have fallen on hard times.” Unlike a food bank, it will offer fresh and non-perishable food items.
The grocery store is also funded by Brad’s alma mater, Belmont University. Brad hopes to see more stores like this across the country and the world, not just in Nashville.
Sadly, the store will only be open for one year. When you think about it, though, it kind of makes sense. I mean, no one can really support a free grocery store forever. Additionally, there is the whole fundraising issue.
The couple will have to raise enough money by their 2019 start date in order for the project to happen. That means that it really could fall through at any point. That also brings into question who is really funding it. If they’re outsourcing funds for the project, then it really isn’t theirs, is it?
If the project does get up and running, the benefits will be exponential. Not only will tons of families in need have access to plenty of food for an entire year, but they won’t have to worry about food costs at all. That means they can spend and save their money in a way that helps them get back on their feet.
Additionally, this project will hopefully inspire others to take on similar undertakings of their own. Maybe if we all do what we can, hunger can become a little less prominent in people’s lives.
