Cleaning the house can be a daunting chore. Luckily there are some tricks that can help make the process a little easier and less expensive. Many times you can use natural ingredients and things you can find in your own pantry to clean your house like a pro. Save some time and some money with a few of these cleaning hacks.

The all-powerful vinegar

Vinegar is the ultimate cleaning power tool. It’s a natural cleaner for any number of household items. One of its many uses is as dirt and dust-trap. You can take a rag or a sock to cover your hand. You then sprinkle it with vinegar and rub it along baseboards, blinds, shelves or anywhere else dust likes to build up.

Carry a cleaning caddy

To save time, use a caddy to store all of your cleaning materials. You can often find these at the dollar store. A caddy will save you trips back and forth to the cabinet. You can keep your most used cleaners, sponges and rags inside and when it’s time to clean, it’s an easy grab and go.

Use cans of air to clean exhaust fans

You may not have realized that the canned air you keep at the office to clean your keyboard has other uses as well. You can use the same canned air to clean your exhaust fans and vents. Exhaust fans can build up with lint causing them to be a dangerous fire hazard.

Lemons and salt for a clean cutting board

Cutting boards can be breeding zones for any number of harmful bacteria. They often don’t get cleaned as often as they should. You can use vinegar and salt as a natural way to keep them clean and fresh. You start by sprinkling a coarse salt all over the board. You then cut a lemon in half and rub it all along the board. This combination kills bacteria and removes food particles that build up on the board.

Use dryer sheets on baseboards

Dryer sheets are another household item with a dual purpose. You can use dryer sheets to clean your baseboards. You simply take the dryer sheet and rub it on your baseboards. This will remove dirt, hair and dust while keeping dust bunnies at bay. Your house will also smell like clean laundry.
