Jennifer Garner

News reports are going ham over recent sightings of actress Jennifer Garner (center) and her daughter, Violet, walking side-by-side doing regular mother-daughter things. They’re both tall women in Hollywood!

“Jennifer Garner’s daughter Violet, 14, is nearly as tall as her during nail salon pamper session,” they shriek.

(Nevermind that that’s not even proper English. Clickbait — am I right, guys? Guys…?)

At 5 feet 8 inches, Garner is a tall lady! She first came into the mainstream with a supporting role in Pearl Harbor, but then gained more attention in thriller Alias.

Cameron Diaz

This actress seemed to come out of nowhere when she starred opposite Jim Carrey in The Mask (1994), says an entry on movie review site Rotten Tomatoes.

“However, her unusual beauty — the result of her Cuban-American and Anglo-German-Native-American parentage — helped to ensure that she would not be soon forgotten,” it reads.

Diaz (left) first started off as a model — considering she’s 5 feet, 9 inches, that career choice made sense to her — but soon found herself in acting gigs.

Diaz is now “semi-retired” from acting, according to an essay the actress — i mean, former actress — wrote for Instyle.

Julia Roberts

Actress Julia Roberts’s (right) first big break was when she appeared in Mystic Pizza (1988) and Satisfaction (also 1988). However, she’s best known to audiences with her roles in Pretty Woman and My Best Friend’s Wedding.

She might not seem extremely tall acting alongside Richard Gere in Pretty Woman (who’s 5’11”), but Roberts is actually 5’9”.

At that height, she towers over many co-stars, crew, producers, and directors.

Besides Roberts’ vertical edge, she’s also known for her charming on-screen presence, her wide smile, mole, and gentle voice. (It’s not all about how tall you are, kids!)

Gal Gadot

Israeli-born actress Gal Gadot is best known for her starring role as Wonder Woman in the Marvel flicks and (what some people might say) her problematic politics.

Before becoming the actress we know today, Gadot won the Miss Israel title in 2004 and modeled (a fine career for tall people).

However, this 5 foot 9 inch lady isn’t a delicate Hollywooder — she previously served in the Israeli Defense Force for two years and took various martial arts and swordsmanship. The latter was to prepare for her role as Wonder Woman, but that doesn’t mean she can beat your you-know-what to smithereens.

Maggie Gyllenhaal

Don’t simply call her “Jake Gyllenhaal’s sister,” Maggie Gyllenhaal is an established actress in her own right!

She did get into the film industry with a bit of help from her filmmaker dad, Stephen Gyllenhaal, however. (A little nepotism didn’t hurt anyone, right?)

The statuesque actress first appeared in her dad’s film Waterland (1992), reads her bio on IMDb.

However, at 5 feet 9¼ inches, Gyllenhaal is hard to ignore even if she didn’t have a push from her dad. Gyllenhaal was nominated for an Academy Award for her supporting role in Crazy Heart (2009).

Mandy Moore

It was watching a performance of the musical Oklahoma! that inspired singer-actress Mandy Moore’s (right) interest in music. She sang National Anthems at sporting events around town but got her break when a Fed-Ex worker heard her practicing and introduced her to their contact at Sony.

Fast forward to 15 year old Moore dropping her first album So Real and touring with the Backstreet Boys. The singer moved into movie and TV roles, first appearing in A Walk to Remember.

At 5 feet 10 inches, Moore currently stars as Rebecca Pearson in the heartbreaking TV show, This is Us.

Blake Lively

Statuesque actress Blake Lively (center) is a bombshell blonde, best known for her role as Serena (or “S” as she was called on the show) in Gossip Girl. Previously, she’d starred as Bridget Vreeland in the movie adaptation of the book Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Lively is known for towering at 5 feet 10 inches, her wavy blonde hair, beauty mark found underneath her right eye, and husky voice.

She’s married to actor — and fellow tall person — Ryan Reynolds, with whom she has three children.

Tilda Swinton

Actress Tilda Swinton played the White Witch in the 2005 adaption of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. A villainess, the White Witch is an ice queen of sorts. Considering Swinton’s fair complexion and towering frame, she was perfect for the role.

Swinton has played many more memorable roles in movies like Female Perversions (1996), Young Adam (2003), and The Man from London (2007).

Standing at 5 feet 10½ inches, Swinton is also known for her androgynous appearance and style. Truly a one-of-a-kind actress in Hollywood!

Adrianne Palicki

When actress Adrianne Palicki first landed in Hollywood, she worked as a sandwich maker at Togo’s, says her mini bio on IMDb. (We all gotta start somewhere, right?) Palicki’s acting career took off, leaving her sandwich days far behind her.

You might have seen this 5 feet 10¾ inch beauty in the TV show Friday Night Lights on NBC, or co-starring in films Legion, Red Dawn, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Turns out acting was what Palicki always wanted to do: “When I lived in New York for those three months, I needed to see a play every week, because eventually that’s where I want to end up,” the actress once said.

Nicole Kidman

Australian American actress Nicole Kidman towers over her husband, country singer Keith Urban, as well as most of her co-stars. Besides her modelesque 5 foot 11 inch figure, Kidman is known for her radiant visage and high cheekbones. In short (I mean, “in tall”?), she is gorgeous!

Kidman is known for appearing in movies like Dead Calm, Days of Thunder, Billy Bathgate, Far and Away, and Moulin Rouge.

The statuesque actress is one of the highest in demand in Hollywood. Makes sense considering her resume of special accolades and award nominations.

Rebecca Romijn

TV audiences might recognize Rebecca Romijn for playing trans woman Alexis Meade opposite America Ferrera in Ugly Betty. Romijn’s portrayal was applauded by many, as her character was a multidimensional trans woman — something that’s not often shown in mainstream media.

Romijn’s 5 foot 11 inch frame makes for a memorable appearance on screen, regardless of the characters she plays.

She’s also acted in various superhero movies like Batman: Hush, Reign of the Supermen, The Death of Superman, X-Men: First Class, as well as Star Trek flicks, and many TV shows.

Kristanna Loken

It makes sense that actress Kristanna Loken is of Norwegian descent — the Nords are typically very blonde and very tall individuals, just like Loken is.

She started off her career in entertainment with a typical tall person job, modeling, at age 15. It helped that Loken’s mother was a model too.

Known for her 5 foot 11 inch stature and husky voice, Loken moved on from modeling to acting.

She made many television appearances but her breakthrough role is definitely Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, co-starring alongside legend Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Gisele Bündchen

Like most models, Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen is very tall. But unlike many models, Bündchen is one of the highest paid models in the whole world.

It’s easy to see why: Bündchen is incredibly successful, having not only modeled for the world’s most famous designers, but also delved into acting, business, and activism.

Because of her hard work, Bündchen is one of three Brazilian models to achieve “supermodel” status, according to an article in Forbes. (“Supermodel” refers to a highly paid fashion model with a worldwide reputation, FYI.)

Bündchen stands at 5 feet 11 inches, just a little bit shorter than her NFL husband Tom Brady.

Uma Thurman

Hands down, actress Uma Thurman’s most iconic role was The Bride in Kill Bill — all three movies in the Kill Bill franchise. The Bride’s motive in Kill Bill is to, well, kill Bill. After waking up from a four year coma, The Bride wakes up to enact revenge on those that wronged her.

Uma Thurman

Most recently, Thurman spoke out against Kill Bill director Quentin Tarantino’s treatment of her on set, and his complacent attitude toward disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Thurman is not only known for acting abilities, but her statuesque figure (she stands at 5′ 11¼ feet tall) long blond hair, and bright blue eyes.

Missi Pyle

Missi Pyle (right) was born Andrea Kay Pyle but her professional name is inspired by her nickname, Little Missi.

Her acting career started out with a minor role opposite Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt in 1997’s As Good as It Gets. Pyle moved onto bigger roles in flicks like Galaxy Quest and Big Fish.

Pyle stands at 5 feet 11¾ inches, towering over most of her co-stars in movies like Bringing Down the House and TV shows like Two and a Half Men.

Not only is this tall beauty an actress, she’s a singer in a country rock band called Smith & Pyle with Shawnee Smith.

Brooke Shields

Actress and model Brooke Shields has been in the entertainment industry since the ’60s.

She caused quite a stir at age 12, when she played a controversial role in her 1978 film, Pretty Baby, later appearing in The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love, which became famous ’80s cult films.

At 6 feet tall, Shields is known for her modelesque stature, brown hair, green eyes, and dark, thick eyebrows.

Her looks and talent aren’t the only thing to know about Shields, however. She’s been open about suffering from postpartum depression, even writing a book on the subject.

Kristen Johnston

Actress Kristen Johnston is probably most recognizable for her role as Sally Solomon on 3rd Rock From the Sun (1996), for which she won two Emmys for. You might have also seen the model-like beauty on ER, Strangers with Candy, and Austin Powers.

Her notable physical attributes include her towering height (she’s 6 feet tall!) and husky voice.

Johnston learned the acting trade at the Atlantic Theater Company School in New York City and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Aisha Tyler

Hailing from San Francisco, California, Aisha Tyler is also 6 feet tall just like fellow actress Kristen Johnston.

Tyler has worked as not only a thespian but talk show host, comedian, author, producer, writer, and director. (The lady stays busy!)

If you’re an avid TV viewer, you probably saw Tyler portray Dr. Tara Lewis on Criminal Minds from 2015 to 2020 or heard her voice acting on cartoon Archer from 2009 to 2019.

Up next, you’ll see Tyler appear in Speech & Debate, Friendsgiving, and Bad Therapy, all of which are in post-production, according to her IMDb page.

Jane Lynch

To mainstream TV viewers, actress Jane Lynch is most recognizable for her performance on musical TV show Glee from 2009 to 2015. She’s also appeared in Criminal Minds along with fellow tall actress Aisha Tyler, Two and a Half Men, and more.

Right now, you can watch Lynch and her 6-foot-frame tower over her co-stars in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime as comic Sophie Lennon.

Next, Lynch will appear in Fairy Tale Forest as Sinistra — currently the TV movie is in post-production, according to Lynch’s IMDb page.

Allison Janney

Actress Allison Janney rose to prominence playing C.J. Cregg on popular TV drama The West Wing from 1999 to 2006. Other roles of note include playing Crystal Cohen on Mr. Sunshine in 2011 and Charlene Doofenshmirtz in Phineas and Ferb from 2008 and 2014.

At 6 feet tall, Janney is often known for portraying the mother of main characters. In fact, she’s playing the mom on the CBS TV show Mom. Janney plays Bonnie Plunkett, a recovering addict and mother to Anna Faris’ character, Christy Plunkett. Christy is also a recovering addict like her mom.

Geena Davis

Geena Davis always dreamed of being an actress ever since she was a child. However, she felt self-conscious because of her towering height. (Remember what we said about tall girls being the target of childhood bullying?)

However, that didn’t stop Davis from achieving her dreams. She attended college for theater and started modeling in NYC soon after.

At 6 feet, Davis easily found success as a model. First she was a “Saturday window mannequin” (we definitely don’t have those anymore because I’m unsure what this is) and then signed with a modeling agency.

She eventually landed acting gigs and became the towering star she is today.

Leslie Jones

Funny lady Leslie Jones is best known to mainstream audiences for her role in Ghostbusters (the all female version of the ‘80s original that incels got mad about, remember?), however she’s been in the entertainment biz a long time.

Some appearances on her resume include Saturday Night Live, Girlfriends, and Workaholics.

Sadly after Ghostbusters hit theaters, Jones was subject to racial abuse online. This didn’t stop the 6 foot beauty however — she went on to book many more high profile acting gigs

Saffron Burrows

If you’re a viewer of Amazon original series, you might have watched Saffron Burrows portray Cynthia Taylor in the Golden Globe winning Mozart in the Jungle. If you haven’t seen it, sign up for that Amazon Prime account right now — you gotta see this series!

Prior to playing Cynthia Taylor, Burrows appeared as Victoria Hand in TV program Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from 2013 to 2014.

Standing at 6 feet tall, Burrows was first discovered in London’s Covent Garden by the scout that discovered Naomi Campbell. She modeled in Paris and London before her breakthrough roles.

Sigourney Weaver

Born Susan Alexandra Weaver, Sigourney Weaver’s parents were a TV producer and actress — so she was born to be in the entertainment biz!

Before Weaver was the confident Ripley in Alien, she was a tall teenage girl that got teased by her classmates for her towering height.

Sigourney Weaver

Weaver was originally rejected by professors at Yale School of Drama because of her 6 foot height even though the school accepted her.

Looks like she’s the one laughing now — all the way to the bank. Besides Alien, Weaver’s had iconic roles in The Defenders, Doc Martin, and more.

Brigitte Nielsen

Danish performer Brigitte Nielsen has had a busy career as an actress, model, presenter, and singer. She started her modeling career very early, leaving her family to pursue success in the industry at age 16.

Nielsen’s nickname (according to her IMDb page) is “The Great Dane.”

Bridget Nielsen
Bridget Nielsen via Instagram

I’m assuming that refers to her 6 feet 1 inch stature? But perhaps her big personality might also have something to do with that dog-like nickname.

Other notable physical attributes Nielsen has are her platinum blonde hair, voluptuous figure, and deep sultry voice, says her IMDb page.

Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner is a former Olympian but probably best known to younger audiences for her appearances on reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Before Kardashian fame, Jenner started appearing in various movies and TV shows in the ‘80s. Some of these include CHiPs, The Fall Guy, and Silver Spoons.

Jenner, a trans woman, has appeared in documentaries to speak about her transition. Some of these include her I Am Cait and Call Me Caitlyn.

Jenner, towering at 6 feet 2 inches, introduced herself to the world as a transgender person on the cover of magazine Vanity Fair. The photograph was taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Elizabeth Debicki

Tall and blonde, Elizabeth Debicki was born in Paris, France on August 24, 1990. Both of her parents were dancers, so you could say performing is in her bones — her very, very tall bones.

Like her parents, she originally trained as a dancer but found her own way and went into theater and acting.

Elizabeth Debicki

Debicki often “out-talls” her co-stars, as she stands at 6 feet 2¾ inches. In fact, it’s one of her best known physical attributes.

Resume-wise, you can find Debicki in The Burnt Orange Heresy, Vita & Virginia, Widows, Flopsy Turvy, Peter Rabbit, and more.

Judy Gold

Actress Judy Gold is a two-time Emmy winner and it’s clear to see why: The funny lady is best known for her edgy wit, sharp timing, crowd work, and being a veteran stand-up comic. (That’s hard stuff, stand-up comedy!)

Besides being funny, Gold’s work can be found through most entertainment mediums.

Judy Gold

Standing at 6 feet 3 inches, Gold has appeared in some fan favorite TV shows like The Other F Word, Who Is?, Nightcap, and more. She’s mainly a TV actress but has worked on shorts, written, produced, and more. What can we say, she does it all!

Gwendoline Christie

Actress Gwendoline Christie is best known for playing Brienne of Tarth on popular fantasy TV show, Game of Thrones from 2012 to 2019. Christie’s intimating statue at 6 feet 3 inches had her looming over her co-stars from the beginning of the show until its disappointing ending in 2019.

Before Christie’s role on Game of Thrones, she appeared on Top of the Lake, Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Love Advent, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, and more.

Christie learned the art of acting at Drama Centre London and went on to various theater gigs.
